Choir

The Choir are well into our busiest time in the Church’s year:  Harvest, All Souls and Remembrance are now behind us, with Advent and Christmas fast approaching.  We have been pleased to welcome three new sopranos – Olivia, Naia and Charlie – and we hope they will enjoy singing with us and becoming part of our Choir community.  Now it is time for you men out there to come and swell the ranks of our tenors and basses!

On the evening of All Souls we sang excerpts from Fauré’s Requiem, well-loved hymns and two new pieces to which Doug had introduced us; and Jenny Janse (also a Choir member) played an Adagio by Albinoni on her cello.

This year the Choir provided canapés in the Bray Chancel for the congregation after the service and all plates were soon emptied.  Is there no end to our talents!

At Tuesday evening practices with Doug we are learning new seasonal music and carols, and reacquainting ourselves with others less familiar, in readiness for the run-up to Christmas.  This year you will be able to come in person to the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols in St James’ on Sunday, December 19 at 6.30pm.
It will be a broadly traditional service – with a few innovations.
