Main service www.YouTube.com/parishofshere. Highlights uploaded by 7pm each Sunday.

Please note: there is a change to our usual Sunday service pattern with March 19th being held at St James' to enable us to be joined by Shere School. This replaces the normal Family Feast which would normally be held that afternoon. Correspondingly, Parish Communion on the fourth Sunday will be at St Mark's. There is no online Take time in March but extra Take time's during Holy week.

Dust

Now Lent has begun, a reminder to try Dust and Glory: A Lent Journey of faith, failure and forgiveness which invites you to find God in the mess of everyday life through a daily Bible reading, a short reflection and a practical challenge, as well as a prayer linked to the week’s theme. The easiest way to listen is to download the Church of England app for iOS or Android .

If you have previously installed the app for an earlier Lent or Advent course you should automatically get the Dust and Glory Lent update. The reflections will also be available via email and also via the Church of England’s smart speaker apps – as well as on the free Daily Hope phone line (0800 804 8044). Alternatively you could order the booklet from Church House Publishing where an accompanying children’s version is also available to help children and their families explore how we can live well together.

Looking ahead...

As we unite in anguish for the plight of the people of Ukraine  many people are asking, ‘what can we do?’
At this stage – and mindful that there is a long road ahead – we would highlight two dimensions for response:

  1. Spiritually: let’s continue to pray for peace. For no less than a change of heart from Putin; and for God’s mercy amid the turmoil, especially for all those in dire straits. There is a prayer station in the St Nicholas' chapel at St James' and online resources are available on the diocesan website here
  2. Financially: we can keep giving financial aid through the charities and funds which are working on the ground. We encourage in particular a church-to-church channel, so that we empower our brothers and sisters in Ukraine and bordering countries – such as through the Ukraine Emergency Appeal which is a joint venture between the Diocese in Europe and USPG.
