We aim to be a lively, relevant, loving church, that is valuable to God and to our neighbours

Welcome to the Parish of Shere.

Church Services Suspended
The Church of England has suspended all acts of public worship. This means there will be no public services at St James or St Marks for the foreseeable future. Sadly, this will include Holy Week and Easter. At the time of writing the Clergy and PCC are looking at imaginative ways that the church (which is really the people not the buildings) can continue to support our community.

The clergy will continue to pray regularly in our church buildings and with the PCC will seek ways to connect this with the prayers of the wider community (particularly over the Easter weekend). Communication will be key so please do check this website and the church Facebook page (@shereparish) regularly. We will also issue regular email updates and if you are not currently on our email list but would like to be please email rector@parishofshere.com.

We are here for everyone whatever your outlook or experience, age or stage in life. Recently, we were described as a mature, missional and multi generational Christian community.

This parish is part of the United Benefice of Shere, Albury and Chilworth. There are two churches in this Parish – St Mark’s, Peaslake and St James’, Shere and worship is held in each weekly.

“Being part of the parish is wonderful. It’s like having an extended family where everyone looks after each other.”
